About Bramblewood
Rooted here since 1987
We’re the civic society for the Bramblewood neighbourhood — volunteers who look after our streets, our green corners and, most of all, each other.
Our Mission
A neighbourhood that looks after itself
It started with twelve households around one kitchen table in 1987, worried about the state of Bramblewood Lane. Today we’re 850 homes strong — organising clean-ups, planting days, summer picnics and a winter market, and speaking up for residents at the county hall.
Everything we do comes back to three simple promises: keep our streets welcoming, support the shops that serve us, and make sure no neighbour feels like a stranger.
What We Stand For
Three values, every decision
Neighbourliness First
From welcome packs for new arrivals to lifts for older residents, kindness is our operating system — not an afterthought.
Pride in Place
Monthly litter picks, the community orchard and our hanging-basket scheme keep Bramblewood blooming all year round.
Everyone’s Voice
Open meetings, plain-English minutes and a vote for every member — the society belongs to the whole street.
Our Story
Thirty-eight years of small wins
1987 — Twelve around a table
Founding members sign the first constitution and adopt Bramblewood Lane’s neglected verges.
2004 — The orchard takes root
Forty apple and pear trees planted on the old depot field; still harvested every autumn.
2016 — The noticeboard goes digital
Weekly email news and this website launch, alongside the much-loved wooden noticeboard.
Today — 850 homes, one community
Over 120 gatherings a year, fifty local businesses in our directory, and a 95% neighbour satisfaction rating.
“Bramblewood isn’t just where we live — it’s how we live. Somebody always shows up with soup, a ladder, or a spare pair of hands.”
